Hoka Hey Charity Ride
Kēpa is taking part in the 2024 Hoka Hey Challenge from 4 August 2024.
You can donate to his chosen Charity, Ngāti Pikiao Hauora, through this LINK.
The motorcycle challenge involves riding an American V-twin from Daytona (Florida) to Homer (Alaska). It's a very long ride! Participants follow printed instructions (not Google Maps) and are GPS monitored to ensure the rider follows the correct route. Participants must camp beside their motorcycle, and observe the road rules.
Follow Kepa on this epic ride.
Kepa is rider number #1242. This year, the route commemorates the original 2010 route designed by Jim Red Cloud of the Lakota Sioux and passes through 26 reservations and other culturally important sites asserting the right of the Indigenous Peoples of North America to travel across the continent.
Each participant raises funds for their chosen charity. Kepa's chosen charity, Ngāti Pikiao Hauora, is a kaupapa Māori health service for Ngāti Pikiao and the wider community who mainly live in the Rotorua district. Ngāti Pikiao Hauora provides a range of mainly free health and social services including mirimiri and rongoā.
All funds raised will be passed to Te Runanga O Ngāti Pikiao to support Ngāti Pikiao Hauora's delivery of holistic health and social services. Funds raised for Ngāti Pikiao Hauora will be accounted for as part of the Trust's Annual Report to the Charities Office.
